Prolonged fever revealing fractured stent with infection of hemodialysis fistula - 14/05/25

Abstract |
We report an unusual case of a chronic hemodialysis patient, who presented with an infection of a fractured stent of the hemodialysis fistula. The stent infection was revealed by an isolated prolonged fever, leading to a diagnostic delay. Stent infection should be considered in a patient who presents with local signs, fever, and bacteremia after recent stent placement. As this case shows, presentation may be limited to long-lasting infections of unclear etiology.
